Howdy Ya'll-
We have been blessed with rain since my last blog post!! Quite a bit actually and some people still have the nerve to complain. Soil sure soaked it up though. I'm happy for the rain, aside from my current job requires being outdoors and has been laid back since the rain has made the fields very muddy.
I got a local job at Dow Agro Sciences for this month and the next in addition to my deli job at Econo Foods. I am happy to be outside as I love. Not fully supportive of what they do but I still think trying it out and seeing the science behind what they do is wise.
I am still in the market for a farm job, internship, and more on the organic, natural and sustainable side of farming. I really miss that.
Speaking of wisdom....
Sally Fallon, author of Nourishing Traditions,
was in Fargo last night at the Holiday Inn!!!! I went with my Mother :)
It was a great and blessed time! I had never heard Sally speak before, and was happily "noting" away. (hehe, I LOVE taking notes ;)
By the way, in case you didn't already know, food is a complex subject and non the less interesting!
A few of my notes:
1. Overall degeneration of the human race is due to a main diet of America's overly processed food.
2. There are 11 principles of healthy diets
(If you want to know them leave a comment and I can do another blog post on it!)
3. Raw milk! Its good for you! Easier for the body to digest too.
4. And a big part of the second half session was "Don't be afraid of butter"
Having good fats like, grass-fed pasture butter, olive oil, lard, coconut oil and cod liver oil are good to consume and not to avoid.
I loved how she has science, history, studies and even chemistry included in her talk! I learned alot and appreciated going and being with like-minded farmers :)
